Itinerariu

On our way from Bucharest to Sibiu, we stop at Cozia Monastery founded in 14th century on the bank of Olt river by the grandfather of Vlad the Impaler.

We arrive to Sibiu and spend the afternoon and evening visiting Sibiu's famous  touristic attractions (Liars' Bridge, the Huet, Large and Small squares, the Evangelical Church, the Orthodox Cathedral, the City Council Tower, the fortications) and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of this quiet medieval city. We are going to spend two overnights in Sibiu.

The second day of our private guided tour of Transylvania. From Sibiu we head towards Hunedoara and visit the Corvin Castle, which was the main castle of Hunyadi family. John Hunyadi was the military commander who defeated the Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror in Belgrade, therefore frozen for decades the momentum of Ottoman invasion of Western Europe after their conquest of Constantinople.
We enjoy the afternoon in Alba Iulia, at Alba Carolina fortress. The fortress was built by the Austrians (the Habsburg Empire) in early 18th century, upon the former Medieval citadel and the ancient Roman castrum of the elite Legio XIII Gemina (2nd century). We visit the Orthodox Coronation Cathedral (1923), the old Catholic Cathedral (built 1000 years ago, in the 11-th century, it was here that John Hunyadi was laid to rest) and the ruins of the Roman castum.
Second overnight in Sibiu.

The Biertan fortified church is the first stop of our travel from Sibiu to Sighisoara. Former seat of the Transylvanian Evangelical bishopry, this church with strong fortifications was amongst the first UNESCO listed fortified churches in Romania.

Before arriving in Sighisoara we make a short stop in Malancrav - a Saxon village with a beautiful Lutheran church which preserved its old Catholic church paintings.

Sighisoara is close and, after the check-in, we take our time to visit this fairy-like citadel, the second UNESCO listed monument of our private tour. This is the place of birth of Wallachian prince Vlad the Impaler.
In the fourth day of our tour, we discover in-depth the Saxon villages's history and culture, visiting the fortified churches of Saschiz, Viscri and Prejmer - and taking our lunch in the remote Viscri village.

Late afternoon we'll arrive in Brasov, an old medieval Saxon fortress which is today a vibrant Romanian city. Touring the remaining walls, towers and gates of the medieval fortress, strolling the Rope Street - the narrowest in Romania - and having dinner at one of the restaurants arround the City Council Square will delight our evening in Brasov. We are goind to spend here two overnights.
If the weather is fine, with a cable-car from Poiana Brasov resort we ride up to Postavaru Peak - 1,7227m (5,666ft) - enjoying the views over Carpathians and Transylvanian plateau. We visit later the famous Bran Castle talking about Dracula legends and come back to Brasov for the second overnight. The impressive Gothic Black Church is the main attraction of the city and we take our time to visit it in the afternoon.

We end our 6-days private tour of Transylvania visiting Peles Castle from Sinaia - founded by the great Romanian king - Charles I, of German ancestry and enjoying the views of Bucegi mountains and the Prahova valley.

We arrive in Bucharest in the afternoon. After the check-in we pay a visit to the Stavropoleos Monastery - a church-art jewellry in the heart of the city - and share the impressions of our Transylvanian private tour at a famous traditional pub in the Old City of Bucharest.

The last overnight is in Bucharest.
